Over 1800 arrested as Border Guards foil attempts to smuggle in huge cache of drugs

RIYADH The General Directorate of Border Guards has foiled several attempts to smuggle in a huge cache of drugs and seized them. The seized drugs include 1.3 tons of hashish, 1,388,622 narcotic pills and 136 tons of khat.

The operations that took place in the southern regions of Jazan, Asir, and Najran resulted in the arrest of 959 Ethiopians, 849 Yemenis, three Somalis and Eritreans, and 12 Saudis.

The security authorities urged the public to report any information related to drug smuggling or selling by calling 911 in the regions of Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, and 999 in other regions of the Kingdom.
