RIYADH
The Riyadh Art Program has announced the participation of 30 artists from 23 countries in the sixth edition of the Tuwaiq International Sculpture Symposium.

The event will be held at the Roshan Front from January 15 to February 8, 2025, under the theme “From Time to Time: The Joy of the Journey in its Difficulties.”

The symposium aims to foster artistic and cultural exchange through community partnerships and to integrate artistic practices into the cultural fabric of urban life.

This year’s edition will feature renowned artist and architect Sebastian Betancur Montoya, known for his impactful works in Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Middle East.

Joining him is curator Dr. Manal Al-Harbi, a Saudi sculptor and academic with over three decades of contributions to the arts and academia.

Montoya emphasized the symposium’s focus on the artist’s journey and resilience: “This year we celebrate the ongoing challenges faced by the artist, which are a major source of inspiration, enabling everyone to create a legacy that connects the past, present, and future in innovative, humane ways.”

He added that the event’s theme reflects the perseverance and steadfastness of artists as they navigate challenges to create works that capture the joy and meaning of their journeys.

In addition to the sculptures, the symposium will feature interactive workshops, school visits, discussion panels, and other events designed to engage the community.
