RIYADH — Saudi Arabia condemned the attack that claimed the lives of a number of people in the American city of New Orleans.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Saudi Arabia's condemnation and denunciation of the run-over incident that occurred in the city of New Orleans in the United States of America, which resulted in the death and injury of a number of people. The ministry affirmed the Kingdom’s complete rejection and denunciation of all forms of violence.

Saudi Arabia expressed its solidarity and offered sincere condolences to the families of the deceased as well as to the government and people of the United States. The ministry wished the injured a speedy recovery.

A 42-year-old Texas man crashed a pickup truck into a crowd celebrating New Year's Day in New Orleans' French Quarter and then opened fire on police, killing 10 people and injuring 35, in an attack on Wednesday morning. The suspect, identified as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a U.S. citizen from Texas, died at the scene in the shootout with police, officials said.
