JEDDAH — The Barcelona squad arrived in Jeddah on Monday to prepare for the highly anticipated Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Athletic Bilbao.
The match will take place on Wednesday at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, popularly known as Al-Jawhara Al-Moshe'a.
The Catalan team, led by club president Joan Laporta, brought a full-strength squad featuring star players such as Robert Lewandowski and young sensation Lamine Yamal.
Among them was Spanish midfielder Dani Olmo, who traveled with the team despite legal hurdles currently preventing his participation in the semi-final. The club emphasized the importance of his presence alongside his teammates.
Upon arrival, the Barcelona players were greeted with Saudi coffee and roses, showcasing traditional Saudi hospitality.
The team then headed to their accommodations at the well-known Assila Hotel on Jeddah’s Tahlia Street. This hotel, a familiar location for the team, also hosted Barcelona during their visit for the Spanish Super Cup in 2019.
The hotel is located 29 kilometers from Al-Jawhara Stadium, a journey that takes approximately 22 minutes.
Robert Lewandowski expressed his gratitude for the warm reception, saying, "It’s always great to feel welcomed like this."
Shortly after Barcelona's arrival, Athletic Bilbao’s delegation landed at King Abdulaziz International Airport.
The Basque team, led by standout players and brothers Nico and Iñaki Williams, will also compete in the semi-final with high hopes of advancing to the final.
