MAKKAH The Makkah Region Police arrested 10 Pakistani residents after their involvement in about 31 financial fraud crimes. The gang was succeeded in getting hold of more than SR2.8 million through fraudulent operations of selling counterfeit gold bars.

The Makkah police said in a statement that the fraudsters adopted a criminal approach by displaying gold bars and lured their victims to buy them in an illegal way. It was revealed in investigations that the modus operandi of the gang in their fraudulent practice was that they used to convince their victims about the profitable business through gaining their trust by offering intact gold bars during the initial phase of negotiations with them. However, eventually they hand them over metal pieces resembling gold, and then vanish from sight.

The Financial Fraud Combating Unit in the Public Security arrested the members of the gang and referred them to the Public Prosecution after taking legal measures against them.
