Syria’s president Ahmed al-Sharaa arrives in Saudi Arabia for first official visit

RIYADH —
Syria’s President Ahmed al-Sharaa arrived in Saudi Arabia on Sunday for his first official visit since assuming office.

Accompanying him on the visit is Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani, further underscoring the importance of this high-level engagement between Damascus and Riyadh.

Upon arrival at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, al-Sharaa was received by Deputy Emir of Riyadh Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman.

Discussions during the visit are expected to center on strengthening bilateral relations and addressing key regional issues, as both nations navigate evolving political landscapes in the Middle East.

The visit comes amid Syria’s ongoing efforts to rebuild its international standing following years of political isolation.
