RIYADH — Sudden deviation tops the causes of traffic accidents in the Riyadh region during the year 2023, according to the data from the General Department of Traffic.

The department revealed that there were three major causes for traffic accidents that happened in the Riyadh region in 2023.

It explained that sudden lane change was the leading cause of traffic accidents in the Riyadh region. The second major reason for accidents was the use of a mobile device by the motorist while driving the vehicle while third reason was not leaving safe distance between two vehicles.

The department called on vehicle drivers to adhere to traffic regulations and traffic safety rules on the roads in all regions across the Kingdom.
