RIYADH —
The Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) foiled two drug smuggling attempts at the Al-Wadiah border crossing, seizing 17,528 Captagon pills and 4.09 kilograms of hashish hidden inside vehicles attempting to enter Saudi Arabia.

In the first attempt, customs officials discovered 17,528 Captagon pills concealed inside a structural compartment of a bus arriving at the border. The second attempt involved 4.09 kilograms of hashish, found hidden inside a hollow section of a truck.

Following the seizures, ZATCA coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC), leading to the arrest of the intended recipient within the Kingdom.

ZATCA reaffirmed its commitment to strict customs enforcement, vowing to thwart all smuggling attempts in close collaboration with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to safeguard society from the dangers of illegal substances.

The authority urged the public to contribute to the fight against smuggling by reporting suspicious activities. Reports are treated confidentially, and informants may receive monetary rewards for credible tips leading to successful seizures.
