JEDDAH — Karim Benzema delivered a stellar performance, scoring once and providing two assists to propel Al Ittihad to a commanding 4-1 victory over Al Wehda in Matchweek 20 of the Roshn Saudi League on Saturday.
Benzema set up Muhannad Al Shanqeeti to open the scoring in the 35th minute, before doubling Al Ittihad’s lead with a goal of his own just before halftime (45').
Despite Jawad El Yamiq pulling one back for Al Wahda in the 42nd minute, Al Ittihad players extended their dominance in the second half.
Dutch forward Steven Bergwijn netted in the 60th minute, while Houssem Aouar sealed the win in stoppage time (95').
The victory strengthens Al Ittihad’s grip on the top spot, as they increase their lead to four points over second-placed Al Hilal, setting up an eagerly anticipated showdown between the two sides in Jeddah next week.
Meanwhile, Al Wehda remain in 17th place with 13 points, continuing their struggle near the relegation zone.
