BRUSSELSThe CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), Dr. Hisham Aljadhey, met with Luigi Di Maio, the European Union's Special Representative for the Gulf Region, and Dr. Sabine Weyand, EU's Director General for Trade. Saudi Ambassador to EU Ms. Haifa Al Jedaie also attended the meetings held at the headquarters of the European External Action Service in the Belgian capital Brussels.

The meetings discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the Saudi Arabia and the European Union in areas related to SFDA’s work, enhancing trade exchange between the two sides, and developing areas of cooperation to ensure the safety of traded products.

During the discussions, the initiatives implemented by SFDA to support investments in related sectors were reviewed, strengthening the partnership with the European Union to achieve common goals in the safety of food, medicines and medical products was emphasized.

These meetings come within the framework of the ongoing efforts to enhance trade cooperation, which recently resulted in SFDA lifting of the ban on beef and mutton and their products from the European Union countries. The SFDA announcement reflected the progress of negotiations and the commitment to facilitate trade and ensure the safety of products exchanged between the Kingdom and the European Union countries.
