MAKKAH — Cristiano Ronaldo found the net early in the second half and won a late penalty converted by Sadio Mané, leading Al Nassr to a 2-0 victory over struggling Al Wehda in the Saudi Pro League on Tuesday.
The match, however, was delayed for an hour due to Al Nassr’s team bus arriving late at the stadium.
The win takes Al Nassr to 47 points, securing third place in the league standings, while Al Wehda remains at the bottom with just 13 points.
Despite the victory, Al Nassr suffered an early setback when Spanish defender Aymeric Laporte was forced off with an injury.
Chances were scarce in a quiet first half, with Abdulrahman Ghareeb missing a close-range opportunity.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 48th minute when Ronaldo powered in a header from a pinpoint cross by substitute Angelo Gabriel.
The visitors dominated possession after the goal, with Mané missing multiple opportunities to extend the lead. Deep into stoppage time, Ronaldo earned a penalty but stepped aside for Mané, who confidently slotted it home to seal the victory.
