MAKKAH — Director General of Public Security Lt. Gen. Mohammed Al-Bassami inspected the readiness of the security and traffic forces and agencies to implement the plans related to the Umrah security during the peak annual Umrah season in the holy month of Ramadan.

He witnessed a drill of the security agencies participating in the field deployment in the presence of the Commander of the Umrah Security Forces and field commanders.

The tour of Lt. Gen. Al-Bassami included the sites and paths inside the Grand Mosque and its courtyards. He was briefed on the mechanism for implementing the approved security plans for the security and safety of the guests of God and the services rendered to them.

Pilgrims urged to follow safety guidelines

As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, the General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque urged visitors of the Grand Mosque to adhere to safety guidelines available at awareness points and through interactive screens managed by a specialized team, along with personnel from various relevant government agencies.

The authority’s call aims to ensure the health and safety of all visitors while enhancing comfort and organization within the Grand Mosque. Throughout Ramadan, the Grand Mosque witnesses a significant influx of worshippers and Umrah performers, necessitating a commitment to practices that maintain order and comfort.

The authority has instructed visitors to also follow the guidelines aimed at ensuring smooth navigation and streamlining mobility. Worshippers are urged to avoid crowding during entry and exit and utilize designated pathways, which contributes to minimizing congestion, thus facilitating movement within the mosque for all visitors.
