CAIRO — Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan stressed the urgent need for international guarantees and UN resolutions to ensure a sustained ceasefire in Gaza, preventing future aggression, and securing long-term peace in Palestine.
He also underscored the importance of supporting the Palestinian Authority, empowering it to administer Gaza and provide essential humanitarian services.
On behalf of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, Prince Faisal bin Farhan led the Kingdom’s delegation at the extraordinary Arab Summit held in Egypt on Tuesday.
Prince Faisal emphasized Saudi Arabia’s firm rejection of any violations against Palestinian rights, including settlement expansion, land annexation, and forced displacement.
He reaffirmed the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He highlighted the unprecedented suffering of Palestinians in Gaza, urging the international community to take immediate action to restore normalcy, rebuild the strip, and ensure that Palestinians can live with dignity on their land.
Prince Faisal conveyed the greetings and well wishes of King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the participating leaders, expressing Saudi Arabia’s appreciation to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi for hosting the summit and Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for his efforts during Bahrain’s presidency of the Arab League Council.
Concluding his speech, Prince Faisal expressed hope that the summit would lead to tangible results that would end the catastrophic consequences of the war, protect innocent Palestinian civilians, and establish a new reality of security, stability, and prosperity in the region.
