THE HAGUE — Saudi Arabia affirmed its commitment to the provisions of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) regarding chemical weapons' ban and the importance of its full implementation. "The use of chemical weapons is a crime and a violation of the rules of the Convention and international law," the Kingdom said in a statement presented by Saudi Arabia's permanent delegation to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) at the 108th session of its Executive Council in The Hague.

The delegation is headed by the Chargé d'Affaires of the Saudi Embassy to the Netherlands Prince Jalawi bin Turki. The delegation expressed its support for the State of Palestine's request regarding the organization's monitoring of the situation in Palestine. It welcomed the developments regarding the Syrian chemical file, and stressed the importance of cooperation between the States Parties and providing the necessary support to the organization and Syria to resolve the file once and for all.

The Saudi delegation welcomed the conclusions of the global conference on the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing the implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention, which was held in Rabat last year.
