RIYADH —
Saudi Arabia welcomed on Tuesday the signing of an agreement stipulating the integration of all civil and military institutions in northeastern Syria into the institutions of the Syrian state.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs renewed Saudi Arabia’s full support for the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria. The ministry statement praised the measures taken by the Syrian leadership to preserve civilian peace in Syria. It also lauded the efforts made to complete the process of building state institutions in a way that achieves security and stability and meets the aspirations of the Syrian people.

Syria has reached on Monday an agreement with the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to integrate them into state institutions, marking a major shift in the country's governance. The deal reaffirms Syria’s territorial unity and stipulates that all civil and military institutions in northeastern Syria, including border crossings, airports, and oil and gas fields, will be brought under the full administration of the Syrian state.
