RIYADH —
The Saudi Geological Survey reported that a 4.0-magnitude earthquake was recorded in the Arabian Gulf, approximately 55 kilometers east of Jubail.

According to the authority, the tremor was detected by the National Seismic Monitoring Network and is considered a minor earthquake.

"This quake is due to the stress along old faults in the Gulf region, caused by the movement of the Arabian Plate and its collision with the Eurasian Plate," the authority said.

The Geological Survey confirmed that Saudi territory was not affected and that the situation remains safe.
