ZATCA foils attempt to smuggle 46.8 kg of cocaine hidden in frozen chicken shipment

JEDDAH —
The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has intercepted an attempt to smuggle 46.8 kilograms of cocaine into the Kingdom through Jeddah Islamic Port.

Authorities said the narcotic substance was concealed within the refrigeration unit of a frozen chicken shipment. The cocaine was discovered during customs procedures using advanced security screening and live inspections.

ZATCA reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the Kingdom by enhancing customs control at all entry points and thwarting any attempts to smuggle prohibited substances.

The authority also urged the public to report any suspected smuggling activity through its confidential hotline at 1910, email at [email protected], or the international number 009661910. Informants may be eligible for financial rewards if the information leads to a successful seizure.
