May 08, 2025

The biggest celebration of its kind lit up Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, on Wednesday night as The Walt Disney Company announced plans for its most advanced theme park resort to date, marking a historic milestone with a dazzling global spectacle.

In a breathtaking display of scale and ambition, more than 9,000 choreographed drones, a sweeping fireworks show, and a star-studded lineup transformed the Yas Island waterfront into a theatrical stage, unveiling what will be Disney’s seventh theme park destination worldwide—and its first in the Middle East.

The announcement event, co-hosted by Disney and Miral, Abu Dhabi’s leading creator of immersive destinations, redefined grandeur and is already being hailed as one of the most spectacular shows the region has ever seen.

The celebration attracted global celebrities including Tyrese Gibson, Naomi Campbell, Nancy Ajram, Chiara Ferragni, and Ed Westwick, who joined dignitaries, media outlets, and fans to witness the historic unveiling.

Taking center stage were piano maestro Lang Lang, West End powerhouse Kerry Ellis, rising classical soprano Sonya Balsara, and beloved Emirati singer Rashed Alnuaimi—delivering a once-in-a-lifetime performance against the glittering Abu Dhabi skyline.

Blending Disney’s timeless storytelling with cutting-edge technology and contemporary design, the Yas Island resort promises to be a game-changing addition to Disney’s global legacy and a defining moment for the UAE’s entertainment and tourism sector.

This is not just an announcement. This is a global entertainment moment that will be remembered for decades.
