RIYADH — The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources has announced the establishment of the non-profit Women in Mining Association, a pioneering initiative aimed at increasing Saudi women’s participation in the Kingdom’s growing mining sector.
The initiative is part of the ministry’s broader efforts to support the non-profit sector in both industrial and mining domains, recognizing its vital role in advancing social and economic development.
The Women in Mining Association will focus on developing advanced skills among Saudi women, preparing them to meet the evolving needs of the mining industry.
It will also offer financial and technical support for female-led entrepreneurial and innovation projects, contributing to a more inclusive and diversified workforce in the sector.
Rana Zamei, head of the ministry’s Women’s Empowerment in Mining Committee, emphasized that the association would actively reach women in all regions of the Kingdom, including remote areas near mining sites. By linking them with private sector projects supported by the ministry, the initiative aims to generate sustainable, income-producing opportunities.
The ministry stressed that the launch of the association reflects its commitment to empowering women and the non-profit sector, while also enhancing the contribution of mining to Saudi Arabia’s gross domestic product.
