UZUNGOLThe Saudi Embassy in Ankara has issued a statement clarifying media speculation surrounding the incident of a Saudi child falling into the Haldizan River near the Turkish town of Uzungol.

The embassy said it wanted to clarify what is being circulated by some media outlets and social media platforms regarding the incident involving 9-year-old Faisal. "The Embassy would like to inform you that from the first moment of the incident, it has, in coordination with the child’s family, communicated with the relevant Turkish authorities to address the matter. The authorities have responded and are gratefully conducting intensive searches in the area and its suburbs to reach the child. We ask God Almighty to crown these efforts with success and to protect everyone from all harm," the statement said.

The Trabzon governor has been following up the search for Faisal, who was swept away after he fell into the Haldizen River in the Çaykara district, the statement added.
