WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday dismissed the renewed focus on the Jeffrey Epstein case as a political “scam,” accusing Democrats of orchestrating the controversy to discredit him ahead of the 2024 election.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump likened the Epstein revelations to what he called the “Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax,” claiming they are part of a broader campaign by the “Radical Left” to “distract and obfuscate” from what he described as “the BEST six months in Presidential history.”
“The Radical Left Democrats are doing everything in their power to distract and obfuscate from our GREAT six months of service to America,” Trump wrote, labeling the growing attention on Epstein as a “Democrat CON JOB.”
He also demanded the release of all grand jury documents related to Epstein’s criminal network, emphasizing that “everyone should see what is there, but people who are innocent should not be hurt.”
Trump’s comments come as speculation intensifies over potential disclosures from sealed court files involving Epstein’s associates.
The renewed scrutiny has been fueled by ongoing legal efforts from journalists and victims’ attorneys to access unreleased documents that could name high-profile individuals connected to Epstein’s network.
Though Trump was previously known to have interacted socially with Epstein in the early 2000s, he has denied any involvement in the disgraced financier’s crimes.
Epstein, a convicted sex offender, died in federal custody in 2019 while awaiting trial on charges of sex trafficking minors. His death, officially ruled a suicide, triggered widespread public distrust and numerous conspiracy theories due to Epstein’s extensive ties to elite figures in politics, media, and finance.
The resurfacing of the case has once again placed Epstein’s former associates—including public officials and celebrities—under the spotlight, with legal pressure mounting to reveal more details of the criminal enterprise and those who may have enabled or participated in it. — Agencies
