RIYADH — The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) officials at the Haditha border crossing foiled an attempt to smuggle 406,400 amphetamine (Captagon) pills into the Kingdom, the agency said Friday.

The shipment, declared as livestock, was subjected to customs procedures and inspection using security screening technologies and sniffer dogs.

Authorities found the pills concealed inside the wool of the sheep.

Following the seizure, ZATCA coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, leading to the arrest of three individuals who were set to receive the contraband inside Saudi Arabia.

The authority reaffirmed its commitment to tightening customs controls on all imports and exports, vowing to remain vigilant against smuggling attempts as part of its strategy to protect society and safeguard the national economy from harmful substances and prohibited goods.

ZATCA urged the public to support anti-smuggling efforts by reporting violations through its security hotline (1910), email ([email protected]), or international number (+9661910). It assured that all reports are handled in strict confidentiality, with monetary rewards offered for verified information.
