JEDDAH — Jeddah United (JU) expanded its basketball training program by traveling to Dubai to play in a basketball tournament, organized by ASJ Basketball Academy.
The 16 and under boys team traveled with Jeddah United managers Obaid Madani and Lina Almaeena.
Coach Mohammed Shobain had focused on the team for the last three months to prepare for the trip. Coach Mohammed, who is an excellent player with King Abdul Aziz University and currently studying medicine, added the task of coaching to his busy schedule.
Jeddah United took first place after winning 5 games. Game 1 was in Abu Dhabi against ASJ Academy which JU won 44-42. JU boys emerged victorious in Game 2 also against ASJ Academy B, 32-20. Game 3 was in Dubai against Manipal University and despite the age differences Coach Mohammed pulled off a big win, 77-44. JU also won Game 4 was in Dubai against the Dubai Dribbles, 79-17. The final game was against the Pilipino national team in Dubai and JU claimed a sweet 75-59 win, after a very tough mental and physical game. JU’s Mohanned Amir clinched the MVP Award.
The players: Ahmed Amir (captain), Mohanned Amir, Mohammed Dawood, Georges Kamel, Anis Sulimane, Karim Attasi, Firas Shobain, Sohaib Darham, Omar Jaber and Yahya Abu Alfaraj. Abdullah Alharby (Doctor), Ibrahim Saleh (Staff) and Saad Abdulkarim (Photographer) assisted Coach Mohammed. More trips are planned to give the other Jeddah United divisions the experience of road trip.
