JEDDAH— The Jeddah Mayoralty has cleaned vacant land covering approximately 4.4 million square meters during the last month of July. The mayoralty explained that the field work of the General Administration of Cleanliness Projects under the mayoralty included manual sweeping of streets and squares over a distance of more than 313,000 kilometers, in addition to mechanical sweeping of approximately 109,000 kilometers.

Through this, the mayoralty has made significant achievements in raising cleanliness levels and addressing visual distortions, as part of its plans to improve the urban landscape and enhance quality of life. The mayoralty's washing and disinfection program covered more than 48,000 containers. The program also included cleaning and washing more than 2,000 public park facilities, washing sidewalks over a distance of more than 2,000 kilometers, and cleaning highways covering a distance of 21,000 kilometers.

The mayoralty noted that its efforts to address visual distortions resulted in the removal of more than 7,500 illegal billboards and posters, and the removal of graffiti that distorted the overall appearance over an area of over 3,000 square meters. It also confiscated more than 550 street vendor sites, removed more than 2,000 concrete barriers, and 877 tons of algae. The work included cleaning sandy beaches over a distance of approximately 370 kilometers, collecting and transporting 118,000 cubic meters of bulky waste, disposing of more than 1,700 used tires, and providing support for 11 community events and occasions with cleaning services.

Through its ongoing efforts, the mayoralty seeks to improve sanitation and reduce visual distortions, thereby enhancing environmental safety, improving the urban landscape, and creating a sustainable urban environment that meets requirements for quality of life.
