AL-QATIF — A wife filed for divorce in Al-Qatif because she claims her husband cares more for his 400 birds than for her. His hobby has also cost them a lot of money, she claimed in her court petition, it was reported in an Arabic newspaper. Despite many attempts by his family to convince him to give up his hobby, the husband insisted he would not do so even if it cost him his marriage. The wife actually filed the case a year ago after her husband left her on their wedding night and went to sleep in the garden where he keeps his birds. Insulted, the wife could not forgive and forget. Sheikh Muhammad Al-Jirani, the judge, said the wife dropped the case after the husband promised to get rid of his birds. However, the judge added, the husband broke his promise. “He has over 400 different types of birds,” the judge pointed out. — SG
