With regard to the article "3 initiatives proposed to achieve Saudization" (Dec. 11), I would like to emphasize the importance of education. The curriculum used in Saudi schools produces Islamic scholars and PhDs in Islamic studies. To succeed in the modern world, you need a curriculum based on math, science and technology along with the ability to think outside the box. As a result, Saudis find it very hard to compete with expats who come to the Kingdom with greater scientific knowledge and expertise. Unless the Saudi educational system is geared more toward science and technology, Saudization may not be possible.

The business community is ready to employ Saudis but the main problem is that they cannot depend on Saudi labor. You cannot definitely say that tomorrow a Saudi employee will come for work, and you cannot say what time he will report for duty, or how long he will stay in the office. This results in low productivity which is the main block to Saudization.
