AL-KHOBAR – Rawabi Holding, a leading industrial  player in Saudi Arabia in the oil & gas field,  aims to facilitate career guidance through its youth self-discovery social responsibility programs for youth in Saudi Arabia.

As an offshoot of its annual Rawabi Talent Exhibit, the company launched two new digital applications and one documentary video series during its media roundtable on Sunday  at his headquarters in Al-Khobar.

A recent study showed that 79 percent of youth head to the web when searching for career-related guidance or assessments. On top of that, 44 percent of Saudis use YouTube on a daily basis, divided almost equally between men and women.

Against this backdrop, Rawabi Holding embraced the importance of utilizing digital media to help youth map out their future education and career paths.

Hanaa Almoaibed, Corporate Communications Manager & CSR Unit Head, said: “The latest digital mobile applications from Rawabi Holding are a continuation of the company’s sustained corporate social responsibility initiative to contribute to social and economic development through assisting youth in planning for futures in which they can be productive, as they build their career choices on what they are good at and what they love. Moreover these digital apps and tools are downloadable for free.”

Rawabi Holding introduced the latest Rawabi Talent Exhibit (RTE) smart apps “Mihnati” and “Career Compass” that provide immediate and updated information on career opportunities in the Kingdom. It also unveiled its new “Akoon” Youtube documentary series which showcases stories of successful young professionals who narrate their unique experiences as inspiration and motivation for youth.  Produced by Rawabi Holding and directed by the creative Abduljalil Alnasser, this series will be distributed by SceenTV, a YouTube channel that presents a variety of programs and videos.

AlMoaibed underlined the aim of RTE during the media roundtable and stressed on the support and role of the media in imparting the programs aimed at providing opportunities to the young generation, in addition to collaboration of the Ministry of Education and other members of the public sector. She added that “social media have huge potential, not only can they offer more employment, they can act as campaigners and advocates for employing people from outside the usual channel.” “It really fills the void,” AlMoaibed pointed out.

The "Mihnati" mobile application & augmented reality is developed in order to deliver a modified version of RTE around the year.

The "Career Compass" app enables the browser to search for a variety of career options and explore related university degree programs across Saudi Arabia, as well as a selection of career planning resources and facilities.

2013 was an “online” year for the Rawabi Talent Exhibit (RTE) thanks to Social Media wherein 465,000 mentions of the Exhibit were registered, out of which 72,000 tweets and more than 500 careers mobile applications were downloaded. In total, 25,000 young men and women were directly engaged with the Exhibit either through RTE’s social media pages or on the ground in direct contact with the field experts. — SG
