United Electronics Company (eXtra), Saudi Arabia’s fastest-growing consumer electronics and home appliance retailer, announced Monday the opening of its fourth store in Jeddah. With the opening of the new outlet near the intersection of Prince Majed Road (Sabaeen Street) and Abdulaziz Bin Baz Street, eXtra has increased its nationwide presence to 35 stores.

“The opportunities for big box consumer electronics retailers here in Saudi Arabia are especially significant,” said Karim Manssour Dahbi, chief executive officer, United Electronics Company (eXtra). “The opening of our new store in Jeddah is another major step in our long-term strategic growth plans, and affirms our commitment to bring our offering closer to our customers.”

On a lot of 6400 square-meters and with over 2,800 square-meters of retail space, the new store will be eXtra’s latest in design in Jeddah, the Western region of the Kingdom, which has a population of more than 3.5 million and represents 30 percent of the residents within the Kingdom. The Western region, comprising of Makkah and Madinah provinces (includes major cities such as Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah and Taif) has the highest population density. It is important to note that this part of the Kingdom accounts for more than SR5.5 billion of the consumer electronics and home appliance market.

In 2013, apart from Jeddah, eXtra has opened outlets in Riyadh, Bisha, Qunfudah, Hassa and their second international store regionally and the first in Oman which was launched at the beginning of the year, bringing its network to 35 stores in the Kingdom and two internationally. Plans are in place for further openings next year.

Existing stores in Jeddah are located on Prince Sultan Street in the Shatea Area, and AlJama’a district, next to the King Abdulaziz University and Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz Street (Tahlia Street).  Currently, eXtra provides the over 12 million customers it serves annually with more than 12,000 products across its 35 stores – serving almost 90 percent of the population of Saudi Arabia. – SG
