CAIRO — Egyptian actor Youssef Dawoud died on Sunday at the age of 74. Dawoud appeared in dozens of movies and theater productions since he took up acting as a full-time profession in the mid 1980s.



Dawoud graduated from the Faculty of Engineering at Alexandria University in 1960 and worked as an electrical engineer until he appeared in the 1985 hit “Laughter Engineer.” He has appeared in several hits including “Al-Wad Sayed Al-Shaghal” (“Sayed the Servant Boy”), “Al-Za’im” (“Leader”) and “Imarat Yaqubian” (“Yacoubian Building”). — SG
