JEDDAH — Young Saudi engineers are supervising the construction of the new Jeddah airport and the Haramain railway projects.



These engineers are a mix of local university graduates and others who were on scholarships abroad.



The Haramain train project employs more than 30 Saudi engineers who are supervising the construction of the train stations as well as electrical, mechanical and civil works.



Other Saudis are employed for transporting concrete, bricks and other construction materials.



The Saudi Railways Organization (SRO) has sent more than 20 university graduates to Spain to be trained on operating the trains.



A center will be established next to the train station in Jeddah to train Saudi youths on train maintenance.



At the new King Abdulaziz International Airport project, a number of Saudi engineers are supervising construction work being carried out with Saudi Binladin Group.



The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) is preparing Saudi youth to be responsible for the engineering, electrical and other facilities in the airport.



In addition, Saudi youths are being trained to conduct any required maintenance at the airport.
