Hope conducts annual speech contests

Hope Toastmasters Club, one of the senior most clubs in the Western Region, conducted their annual speech contests on January 10.

JEDDAH — Hope Toastmasters Club, one of the senior most clubs in the Western Region, conducted their annual speech contests on January 10.



The contests were declared open by the President of the Club, who was also the master of ceremony, Toastmaster Muthappan Annamalai. 



Division G Governor, Distinguished Toastmaster Saifuddin Kunnummal was the guest of honor.



Giving an example of Edmond Hillary, the first ever conqueror of Mount Everest, he advised the gathering to salute their failures and stay on course to achieving success. 



Area 37 Governor Toastmaster Shafeequr Rahman also addressed the audience.



Hope Toastmasters Club members, strictly following Toastmasters International’s guidelines, contested in Humorous Speech, Speech Evaluation, Table Topics and International Speech.



Toastmaster Senapathi was declared the champion after having won the first prize in International speech, besides winning the third place in Table Topics.  Toastmaster Mosleh won the first place in humorous speech. 



Toastmaster Ashraf Meleveettil claimed the first prize in Evaluation Speech, besides being the runner up for the other three contests in International Speech, Humorous Speech and Table Topic Speech. 



Toastmaster Tauseefuddin Khan won the first place in Table Topics speech besides being the third prize winner in Evaluation speech.



Toastmaster Peer Mohammed won the second prize in Evaluation speech and claimed the third prizes in International Speech and Humorous Speech.



Toastmasters Raja Chandran, Shahid Malayil, Ibrahim Maricar and Ahmed Qadri were the contest masters respectively for International Speech, Humorous Speech, Evaluation Speech and Table Topics Speech. 



Assistant Division Governor for Education and Training, Toastmaster Khaleel Ahmed delivered the speech on Positive Thinking, which was the target speech for the evaluation contestants.



Toastmaster Mohammed Ilyas, the immediate Governor of Division H together with the Division G Governor, Distinguished Toastmaster Saifuddin gave away certificates to all the contest participants and prizes to the winners.



The first prize winners from Hope Toastmasters Club will now compete with winners from other clubs in Area 37. — SG
