HAIL – A large number of people flocked to the traditional markets in Hail to buy bags of locusts despite concerns that the locusts had been sprayed with chemical insecticides. The price of a large bag of locusts ranged from SR100 to SR350. Hail residents, especially old ones, love to eat locusts and believe these insects have invaluable nutritional values. They usually cook locusts in boiling water and eat them after they get dried. A large swarm of locusts that arrived in the region last month has been sprayed with chemical insecticides to prevent them from destroying crops.
