CHANDIGARH — Aam Aadmi Party activists shouted slogans outside the Rohtak inspector general of police’s office on Monday night after some unidentified men damaged Arvind Kejriwal’s famous WagonR with an iron rod. The windshield has been splintered by the attackers.  The car has been gifted to the party’s candidate Naveen Jaihind by the AAP founder and is considered a “star campaigner” as it played a key role in building up Kejriwal’s aam aadmi (common man) status.  The attack took place near sector-1 of Rohtak at 9.30 pm when two AAP activists, Sandeep Phogat and Sidarth Malik, were about to park the car at the home of a party leader after dropping Jaihind home. “Suddenly, two youths, who were traveling on a motorcycle, asked the AAP activists to stop the car and attacked it with an iron rod before running away,” said Bhupinder Singh, a local AAP leader. Neither Malik nor Phogat were hurt in the incident making party workers wonder if it was only meant to damage the car. “This indicates poor law and order in Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Hooda’s hometown,” Singh added. AAP leaders have given a complaint to the cops. Jaihind said the car had proved lucky for the party founder as he had done most of his campaigning in the Delhi assembly elections in it and had even gone to take oath as Delhi chief minister in the car. “I am very lucky that he gifted the car to me for poll campaign,” he said. Jaihind is contesting against chief minister’s son Deepender Singh Hooda in Rohtak.
