JEDDAH — Saudi writer, journalist and author Ahmed Al-Mohandes passed away on Saturday following a brain stroke, according to his family.
Al-Mohandes, who is buried at the Al-Faisaliyyah cemetery, was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of King Abdulaziz Univeristy's hospital where he breathed his last.
The Saudi writer, who was also known for being a critic and a songwriter, has a score of books to his credit including a magazine on architecture.
He had initiated modern art journalism in Saudi Arabia with Mohammed Rajab, Hamdan Saddqa, Jalal Abu Zaid and Hani Fyrouzi.
Members of his fraternity paid their condolences to his family. He is survived by four sons and a daughter. — SG
