JEDDAH — Pepsi team turned in an all-round display as it beat a gritty Al Baik team by 26 runs in a festival cricket match, organized by SIBCO-Pepsi Cola-Bugshan at Bagdadiya Ground here recently.

The match was organized to promote a good relationship and friendly atmosphere between both the companies. Opting to bat, Pepsi scored 126-5 in the allotted 15 overs with major contributions coming from Saeed (74) and Abdul Quddus (36). For Al Baik Faisal had an excellent spell.

Al Baik, chasing the target, lost wickets at regular intervals. Though it fought well to inch close against some terrific Pepsi bowling, everything faded with the tail collapsing. Fine spells by Shahid, Saeed and Mahmood Hussain, each taking 2 wickets, lifted Pepsi. Saeed was declared Man-of-the-Match for his all-round performance. Al-Baik could only muster 100.

The match was officiated by experienced umpires Kumar Krishnan and Syed Afzal, whereas the scorer was Zubair. Commentary was given by Naushad, the Sri Lankan radio commentator.

Nabil Ibrahim, Ahmed Shokier, Ahmed El-Khatib, Ahmed Samy from Pepsi and Kabir and Jalal from Al Baik graced the occasion.

Nabil Ibrahim (MDM) and Kabir (AGM) thanked both the teams for their enthusiasm and spirit shown on and off the ground and assured to conduct such matches more often in order to enhance the business relations between the two firms.

They also thanked the organizing committee for the wonderful arrangements.

Trophy and medals were awarded at the presentation ceremony. The awards were: Man of the-Match — Saeed (Pepsi); Best Batsman — Mohammed Abdul Quddus (Pepsi); Best Bowler — Faisal (Al Baik). The awards were given by Nabil Ibrahim, Kabir and Jalal.

This match was played under the guidance of Haitam El Bendary, Director OT; and Nabil Ibrahim, MDM; and was conducted successfully by SIBCO organizing committee comprising Mohammad Abdul Quddus, Mohammed Sami, Owais Afzal and support staff. — SG
