JEDDAH — Awdah of Rhey Magat beat Carrefour 77-54 in Game 2 of the best-of-three finals to bag the Group C title of the JBL Basektball Tournament at the Bin Mahfouz basketball court here recently.



The winner applied trapping defense at the start of the game and upset the ball handlers of Carrefour. The loser tried tried its best to catch up with offense of the winner but lost steam in the final quarter. Mendoza topscored with 22 points for the winner and was adjudged NCB Quick Pay Best Player, while Cutamora contributed 21 points for the loser.



This tournament was sponsored by Giordano Fashions (Ahmedullah), ABS-CBN - The Filipino Channel, Saudi Signs (Sam Adora), Al-Haddaf Sportsware (Bayoumi) and NCB Quick Pay (Jayson Mojica).



Team Pilipinas of Ermie Samson defeated GIG Jeddah 95-69 in Game 2 of their best-of-three final to secure the Group B trophy.



The winner displayed excellent skill and good teamwork throughout the game, while the undermanned loser struggled to cope with the rival. Dela Cruz and Monding scored 25 points apiece for the winner and were named Giordano Best Players, while Ernie Cabawatan contributed 17 points for the loser.

Group B: Team Pilipinas — champion, GIG Jeddah — 1st runner-up, ALJ Toyota Quality Services — 2nd runner-up, TRCIJ — 3rd runner-up, Edz General (Team Pilipinas) — best coach, John Monding (Team Pilipinas) — Most Valuable Player (MVP). The elite Mythical Five — Arwin Ochavillo (TRCIJ), Gani Taboa (ALJ Leasing), Roland Dela (Team Pilipinas), Edward Ballinan (GIG Jeddah) and Dennis Sernal (Team Pilipinas).



Group C: Awdah — champion, Carrefour — 1st runner-up, Elmer Molano (Awdah) — best coach, Erick Natividad (Awdah) — Most Valuable Player (MVP). The elite Mythical Five — Mateo (Carrefour), Cutamora (Carrefour), Artemio Toledo (Awdah), Gerald Deleon (Awdah), Dondon Mendoza (Awdah).



Meanwhile, Fuchs One Stop Shop of Gerry Refil and Jovy Abella bounced back from its Game 1 triple overtime loss to Java Tithe with a 72-69 win in Game 2 in the Group A best-of-three finals.



The winner played its heart out in the dying seconds to upset the rival. The loser missed an important basket as the final buzzer sounded. Hero Baual chipped in with 28 points for the winner and was adjudged JBL Best Player, while Navarro led the loser with 16 points.
