DUBAI — The world’s most expensive cupcake is now on sale in Dubai. Made with 23-carat edible gold sheets, the decadent dessert is priced at AED 3,700 ($1,010).

The cake, dubbed The Golden Phoenix, was unveiled at the opening of new boutique café Bloomsbury’s in The Dubai Mall. Italian chocolate, organic flour and high-end vanilla beans are some of the other pricey ingredients used to bake the treat.

“We have seen people attempt the most expensive cupcakes before, however those cupcakes are not edible as they are incrusted with diamonds and other components,” Vinay Lall, General Manager of Tablez Food Company, said.

Orders for the cake must be placed two days in advance at the new store, which is located on the lower ground floor of the shopping mall. — Agencies
