JEDDAH – Jeddah Mayoralty on Monday shut down a famous commercial center for violating regulations. The souq, which houses about 450 commercial shops, has repeatedly failed to comply with the mayoralty’s regulations with regard to removing bill boards from the walls of the center, according to Hassan Ghonaim, head of the Jamia branch municipality. “Warning notices were served to the souq administration for more than three times but the management did not respond to them positively,” he said.

Muhammad Al-Baqami, spokesman of the mayoralty, said that Mayor Hani Abu Ras is keen on taking strict penal action against the violators and there won’t be any leniency in this regard, the Saud Press Agency reported.
