MAKKAH — The Ministry of Water and Electricity sent a letter to the Makkah Emir’s office complaining that 45,000 10-liter bottles of Zamzam water are resold by street vendors every month. The letter said many citizens and expatriates have been seen buying hundreds of bottles every day from the factory in the Kudai neighborhood then reselling the bottles to people outside the factory. Some vendors have been spotted on the Makkah-Jeddah Highway selling bottles that have been exposed to direct sunlight. Minister Abdullah Al-Hussayen requested the authorities to end this practice and prevent people from selling Zamzam bottles on streets.
