The Saudi Charitable Society for the Welfare of Saudi Families Abroad (AWASSER) has asked Saudi men travelling abroad for vacation to be careful and not fall victim to marriage brokers at airports.

Extreme caution should be taken because many brokers tend to target Saudi travelers and convince them to enter into marriage contracts that can have “catastrophic” results, said the society.

Saudis have been urged to consult their local Saudi Embassy before signing any marriage contract that is binding.

In its statement, the society said many marriages that were executed in this manner had disastrous outcomes for both spouses due to the culture shock.

The children suffer the most from divorce, said the statement. Saudis were urged to ignore any broker who approaches them with marriage offers. Most brokers are usually accompanied by young girls who are used to attract Saudis.
