SCTA must protect Islamic historical sites

I am writing with regard to the article “Destroying history — Conflicting opinions on Madinah artifacts” (May 23). There is no doubt that the expansion and development of some mosques and sites are commendable. However, destroying Islamic historical sites does not make sense. The Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) must protect  Islamic historical sites. These sites are the combined history and assets of all the Muslim Ummah. These Islamic heritage sites give us a picture of Islamic history and provide spiritual feeling for every generation.
