When every day becomes a struggle, a routine you can’t change, personally or professionally, you find a way out. This can mean involve working out, comfort (read: excessive) eating, picking up unhealthy habits like smoking or others. More than 60 percent disease in the world is psychosomatic (generating out of emotional disturbances)

“That is why it becomes so important to look after our emotional and mental health with utmost priority,” Bhavyata Jethva an in-house Sri Sri Yoga Instructor and a Corporate Yoga consultant, explained. She said yoga and meditation helps immensely here as it keeps body and mind healthy. I would say yoga must be part of daily routine. The path of yoga is the way of life. It involves asanas (adopting a posture), which helps keeping body fit; meditating and letting loose. Yoga helps bringing perfect balance between activity and rest. You become dynamic in your activities and can deepen the quality of your rest through meditations.

“Every one seeks happiness in this world. However, happiness is an attitude. And once you start living in NOW — the only moment available to live, train your mind to be in the present, which otherwise keeps vacillating between past and future; you feel that happiness from within. Yoga brings this wavering mind to the present moment. Present moment is the source of all energy, creativity. It is vast and deep. And fathoming this depth of the present moment is meditation, path of yoga. So, for all those looking for good health, more energy, bubbling enthusiasm, ability to deal with day to day challenges without getting stressed, wanting to awaken your spiritual side, I would say yoga should be a top priority,” Jethva said.

For those trying to lose weight while working late hours, she said that food and exercise go hand in hand. So, watch out for your diet. But then again, we think working out will give proper wellness, whereas sometimes, extensive workout can harm you. Similarly, incorrect postures while sitting, standing and sleeping can also harm us. Watch out for this common mistake that most of the people make. You can be more aware to avoid it.

Bhavyata Jethva, based in Dubai works for Yoga Ashram located in Jumeirah Lake Towers. The institute offers yoga, Pilates and other fitness classes five days during the week.

She has been teaching Sri Sri Yoga since 2010. “I learnt it in Bangalore. I have taught SSY in the UK, Germany, France, India and now am teaching at Yoga Ashram, Dubai. I aim to work towards creating a stress free society, which begins by empowering the individuals — both at physical and mental levels. I look forward to help more and more people to get on with their journey on this beautiful path of Yoga.”
