RIYADH — Saudi Railway Company (SAR) has denied reports that one of its trains had overturned about two weeks ago. It said only one of the cars of a cargo train derailed. Quoting informed sources, Al-Watan newspaper said on Monday that the train was carrying a load of bauxite when it overturned in Al-Hitaifah area in Al-Qassim province. The sources said the accident was the result of a manufacturing defect. However, the railway company denied the reports, saying only one of the cars derailed as a result of the heavy load. It said the accident took place on May 25 and the train was immediately put back on track. The SAR said it had notified the Saudi Railways Organization (SRO), which is in charge of railways in the Kingdom, and the Bauxite Metal Company, the customer, about the incident immediately.
