RIYADH — Only 1,760 young Saudi men and women applied for 11,751 vacancies made available by 70 private companies and establishments in the Saudi capital, the center for employment and training at the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) said in a report covering the first six months of the current year.



The report said the vacancies were offered by giant companies operating in the sectors of food, technology services, industry, tourism, contracting, shopping and others.



According to the report, the salaries being offered for these jobs ranged from SR4,000 to SR10,000.



The report said the vacancies covered a number of specializations, including production line employees,  accountants, cashiers, engineers, exhibition managers, salesmen and saleswomen, data entry clerks, technical support staff, customer service officials, operations analysts, health supervisors, personnel affairs specialists, marketing employees, mechanics, receptionists, security guards, drivers, electricians, welders and others.



RCCI Secretary-General Mohammed Al-Kuthairi asked young Saudi men and women to avail themselves of these opportunities in the private sector, which he said would provide them with an encouraging atmosphere to gain experience and develop their personal skills.



"The young men and women will receive fringe benefits including good salaries, financial incentives and vocational training," he said.



Kuthairi said the center is conducting periodic assessments of the vacancies available in the private sector in order to publicize them for interested job-seekers.



He said the center accepts all kinds of vacant private jobs and all types of qualifications to provide the Saudi youth with feasible employment opportunities.



He also said the center is constantly coordinating with private companies and establishments to know their job requirements and supply them with qualified Saudi cadres.



Kuthairi said the center will invite companies and establishments to conduct personal interviews with job seekers at its headquarters in Riyadh.



"Job seekers should closely monitor advertisements of job vacancies in the local media," he said.
