JEDDAH — The "Memon Welfare Society (MWS)" hosted an Iftar and dinner reception in the honor of Iqbal Memon, officer and vice president All Memon Jamats Federation, and a well know dignitary of the World Memon Organization at a local restaurant recently.
More than 150 local and foreign guests including Mohammed Chapra and Arif A.Ghaffar (Punjabi), president Pakistan Opleta Memon Jamat attended the event.
President of MWS Saudi Arabia Arif Memon welcomed Iqbal Memon while General Secretary Tayyab Moosani introduced their guest of the day.
Iqbal,who has returned recently from his tour of America and Canada, also presented a MWS's performance report of last year here and abroad and thanked the society for its services.
He said: "Memon are always kind hearted and helpful by nature, which is a great gift of Allah Almighty."
He was presented with a plaque as a token of appreciation by MWS for his commendable services to the community.
He further stated that during amnesty period announced by the government of Saudi Arabia, MWS has also helped community members who could not afford the fees of their transfer of sponsorships and renewal of Iqama.
The vice presidents of the society Younus Habib and Mansoor Shivany also thanked their guests for attending the event.
Moosani informed guests that MWS is expanding its welfare services day by day and during last year it has provided education, health care and medical assistance to several needy people.
He thanked Habib for sponsoring almost 200 gift packs, which were distributed to all the guests.
Event management committee members Shoaib Sikander, Asif Lala, Wasim Tai, Nasir Ibrahi, A.Q.Teli were hailed for holding a successful event.
