MAKKAH — Mohammad Eisa, a teacher, has spent a fortnight in despair and bafflement after his wife and two children went missing on July 15 (Ramadan 17).
Enduring grief for the past 16 days and a desolate Eid, Eisa was away in Turkey when his first wife and children disappeared.
Mystery shrouds the case because the apartment door was not broken to suspect any forcible entry. Eisa has filed a missing persons report with security personnel here.
"My wife is Turkish and does not speak Arabic very well, and my two children speak very little Arabic. In addition, she does not have any family or relatives in the Kingdom," he said.
Eisa explained the circumstances in which this incident occurred. He said he had accompanied his mother and second wife to Turkey, where his mother was to be treated. “On arrival in Turkey, I phoned my wife in Makkah, but she did not respond to my call. This was a worrying sign,” he said.
"I decided to return to Makkah after my repeated calls went unanswered. When I reached here, I did not find my wife nor my two children in their apartment in Al-Aziziyah neighborhood," he said.
After making an initial search with friends and family, I filed the missing person report with the police, he said, adding, that he believes that his wife and children are still in Makkah.
“I believe they are here (Makkah) because she had only SR500 with her, and I suspect that she left the apartment in a huff because she was jealous that I had taken my second wife to Turkey.”
