The video of two young Saudi men shooting a horse at point-blank range, which has gone viral on social media, has made me furious. There are no words to describe the way these men killed the horse. It is beyond human imagination. I cannot get the video out of my mind. The two men should be subjected to mental tests to determine why they would commit such a cruel and brutal crime and videotape it in cold blood while they were laughing. Their laughter shows they do not have any conscience at all.

I am writing this article while I am full of rage and indignation. Such videos present a bad image of us to the world and make it look like we have no concern for animal life. I know that many will justify the action of the two young men by saying that shooting a horse is a fast way of killing it without having it feel any pain. This, in fact, was the comment of one of the people who saw the video.

Even if the horse was sick does that justify killing it in such a manner? Does it justify filming the action and laughing as the animal dies?  Does such an action indicate that we value life or that we take it lightly?

Personally, I think anyone who can hold a gun to the head of a horse and pull the trigger can also shoot a human being. The authorities are expected to arrest the two young men and bring them to justice.

People who can watch this video without blaming the two men should realize that there is something wrong with their own minds. Those who feel that they can justify such behavior are themselves criminals and are not human beings.

Go watch the video and read the comments and ask yourself whether or not such behavior reflects backwardness and ignorance.
