JEDDAH — A good drawing or picture can express emotions and get a message across far more eloquently and effectively than lines and lines of words.
Love, pride, hope, and aspirations for their nation came to life in the drawings of thousands of students who participated in the contest, "My Country in My Eyes."
More than 3,668 boys and girls have presented artwork and drawings to compete in the art contest organized by the Saudi Art Council, chaired by her Princess Jawaher Bint Majed bin Abdul Aziz.
The contest was put together to commemorate the 84th anniversary of the establishment of the Kingdom, celebrating the National Day today.
The contest has attracted a large number of participants from a wide range of primary, middle schools, high schools, kindergartens, and schools for children with special needs.
“The competition sought to encourage the development of thought and creative expression through art, as well as inspiring loyalty to the homeland in our sons and daughters through creativity development and educational means. The artwork embodied the sincerity of feelings by the students to the homeland and the King,” said Nadia Asaad Zuhair, member of the Saudi Art Council and supervisor of the contest.
The astounding success of this contest would not have been possible without the support of her Princess Jawaher as well as the hard work of all the board members of the council, the cooperation of the education departments, and the efforts of the committee of judges.
On his part, Hamza Sairafi, one of the judges for the contest, expressed his pleasure and surprise with the active participation of students as well as the level of artwork presented, which exceeded his expectations, indicating a high level of students’ awareness and their sense of art.
