The Jeddah Hilton and Waldorf Astoria Jeddah – Qasr Al Sharq marked Saudi National Day with spectacular celebrations that included transforming the exteriors of both buildings with a wash of green light, while more than 30 flags at the entrance to the hotel were replaced with Saudi flags.
In addition, a huge Saudi flag was unfurled inside the Jeddah Hilton atrium lobby and guests checking in at the front desk were presented with small Saudi flags and a flag pin. Carrying through the theme, room service and food and beverages staff distributed cup cakes with a small Saudi flag and badge to in-house guests.
Kevin Brett, Cluster General Manager of the Waldorf Astoria Jeddah - Qasr Al Sharq and Jeddah Hilton, said: “We congratulate the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on its 84th Saudi National Day which comes at a time when the Kingdom is undergoing unprecedented development. On this occasion we are proud to put on an impressive display to show our support with further national-themed events in both hotels. We were also very happy and honored to invite more than 80 orphan children to share in the celebrations and make the day especially memorable for them.”
The orphans from the Orphans Volunteers Jeddah Club, the House of Education for Girls (Dar Al Tarbiah), and which is part of the Ministry of Social affairs and the Min Ajlak Ya Watan, which is part of the Association Centres of Neighborhoods were entertained to lunch at the Manhattan restaurant and then participated in cutting a huge 1x1 meter celebration cake made to replicate the shape of the historic Al Masmak Palace in Riyadh.
The National Day celebrations concluded with a Saudi-themed night at Al Safina Restaurant featuring food specialties from different provinces of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
As a further mark of pride in Saudi National Day, the Jeddah Hilton and Waldorf Astoria Jeddah - Qasr Al Sharq also makes a celebratory promotion on bookings made between Sept. 23 and Nov. 30 for stays between Dec.15, 2014 until Jan. 31, 2015. — SG
