JEDDAH – Experts from the Ministry of Housing and Municipal, Rural Affairs, Ministry of Commerce, Justice and the National Guard joined together to form the first Saudi housing committee in JCCI.
Engineer Khalid Bashoair was elected as its chairman, while Engineer Nidal Jamjoom and Engineer Waleed Al-Hazza will assist him.
The committee is established with the goal of providing more than 25,000 housing units annually in Jeddah.
Bashoair said they are working on enhancing the relationship between real estate developers and relevant government agencies.
He said “an Increase in population is the reason behind shortage of housing units and it requires an intensive effort between the public sector represented by the Ministry of Housing and the private sector represented by the developers and companies.”
“The Housing Committee in the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce as the first housing committee in Saudi Arabia is to build and strengthen the relationship between the Department of Housing and developers who specialize in the housing sector and who have a great experience and a long history in this area to bridge the gap between the two sectors.” he added.
He pointed out that Jeddah needs 250,000 housing units in the next 10 years, 25,000 units annually according to the increasing population growth, and emphasized that the positive and strong relationship between the public and private sectors will help to build transparency in facing challenges and work to remove them, and no doubt it will help in the solution of housing crisis.
He added that Commission finds great support from Sheikh Saleh bin Abdullah Kamal, Chairman of Jeddah Chamber of Commerce; Mazen Batterjee, Vice President; Adnan bin Hussain Mandoura, Secretary-General, JCCI and Engineer Muhiuddin Hukmi.
The committee includes senior prominent members of the real estate development companies in Saudi Arabia, among them, are Abdul Rahman Khuraiji, Engineer Zuhair Hamza, Engineer Ziad Al-Aqeel, professor Yasser Baharith, Dr. Abdul Aziz Al-Matwu, Yasser Abu Atiq, Engineer Riaz Ahmed al-Saqafi, Abdul Raouf Nas, Engineer Mohamed Adel Aqil, Engineer Mohammed Al-Humaidhi, Ibrahim Saleh Alhanaki, Engineer Abdul Monam Murad. — SG
